Ferocious or friendly?
Bred from the YZ450F engine with a new dry sump configuration that contributes to the concentration of mass, the WR450F mill is independently developed for increased power and torque in the mid- and low-speed range. Much of this improved performance comes from brand new cam profiles and valve timing. A new 50% balancer and optimised crank mass create a character of smooth direct response, while also reducing fatigue in longer rides.
This improved torque character means performance that fits the needs of a wide range of riders, from beginner to experts.
We’ve fitted this state of the art powerplant into the brand new YZ-bred alloy frame (details later), with a highly effective twist. Altering the forward inclination of the cylinder, we’ve adjusted the chassis’ weight balance and centre of gravity in a way you’re sure to find appealing.
Though it’s an entire new species, this WR-F is the most advanced evolution of the open enduro concept we’ve ever created.
Electric starting, 5 titanium-valved, 449cc liquid-cooled DOHC four-stroke. Strong new con rod and oil jet, dry sump lubrication. 39mm Keihin FCR flat-slide carburettor with Throttle Position Sensing (TPS).
All-new YZ-inspired aluminium composite “tuned flex” frame, made of cast, forged and pipe / extruded aluminium components.
Fully adjustable 48mm fork. Tapered swingarm with YZ-style linkage and Kayaba rear shock with adjustment for high/low speed compression damping, rebound damping and spring preload.
