YZ450FZ 2010 |

|
Yamaha kicked off the era of 400/450cc 4-stroke domination, appearing in 1997, and winning the premier crown for the first time in 1999 in the hands of Andrea Bartolini. Then the domination of Everts continued from 2001 to 2006 and now Josh Coppins leads the way in 2007.
The YZ-F is a bike born out of the hardship of Grand Prix motocross, and thats a pedigree that cant be copied in a lab.
But every new year brings a new beginning, and for the year 2008, well unveil a new and even more mature YZ-F, with all the improvements in character that our riders and our customers asked for, plus a few extra innovations our engineers have been working on.
Frame updates include changes to steering head-pipe length, under-bracket design and and thickening the front frame in specific areas to further perfect the tuned-flex balance. This results in lighter handling and easier carving of tight turns.
Re-shaped cam shafts on both the intake and exhaust side change intake timing and overlap to provide superior aspiration and exhaust for improved torque character in the low- to mid-speed range.
New cylinder head gets new port shapes for improved combustion efficiency. This combines with the optimized cam profiles to help improve torque in the low- to mid-range.
Piston/cylinder clearance has been adjusted with micron-level changes to the external diameter to help reduce vibration and mechanical noise. Re-designed carburettor assembly means more power and better response.
New primary drive gear and primary driven gear combination optimise backlash to improve gear meshing and reduce noise.
New shorty silencer with brand new internal design maximises output and reduces noise to meet current regulations, while significantly reducing weight up high
New shape fork lowers (axle brackets) and new fork protectors shave precious grams from the front end. It all points to a better balanced machine.
New fork internals for improved damping and reduced friction mean greater tracking accuracy, comfort and better bump compliance.
Combination of a new front brake master cylinder, caliper and lever and a newly designed wave-type disc improves performance and reduces weight.
Enlarged compression valve port in rear shock improves damping plus peripheral parts are lightened. An improved link ratio achieves excellent cushioning characteristics and optimal traction.
Wide-type stainless steel footrests, popular on the WR range have been adopted to increase riding comfort.
New knobbly Dunlops with wider profile rear and different front tread pattern make the most of the engine and chassis upgrades.
