As a super middleweight, the Grizzly does a heck of a good job fighting up a division; it’s got all the most popular features of Yamaha’s famous flagship utility, the Grizzly 660.
Let’s start with Grizzly 450’s brilliant new Independent Rear Suspension.
Dynamic in the rough stuff, the fully independent approach is a significant step forward in handling and ride performance. More importantly, the improvement in operator comfort just made long days in the saddle that bit easier.
Technological sophistication has always been a hallmark of the Grizzly models, and the liquid-cooled, 421cc, SOHC four-stroke single still has no equal in its class. A high volume aluminium radiator, positioned high in the frame for optimal protection, smoothes out temperature fluctuations so your Grizzly is just as happy at 6kph as it is at 60. And with its 45° cylinder angle, the Grizzly 450 combines maximum ground clearance and a lower seat height for quick, responsive steering and surprising agility.
This impressive powerplant delivers its power through Yamaha’s advanced Ultramatic V-belt transmission – a design Yamaha has developed and refined to a pinnacle of performance and reliability. The leftside–mounted shifter accesses Hi/Lo range, neutral, reverse and Grizzly’s transmission park brake (that never needs adjusting).
Ultimate terrain mode-changing comes courtesy of our three-position On-Command® selector, which switches from 2WD to 4WD to fully diff-locked in seconds. Maximum versatility, maximum terrainability.
Hard-working sophisticated features include an eight-function digital gauge, complete with speedometer, odometer, dual tripmeters, hour meter, 4WD status, transmission position and clock.
